Class project on Apache Servicemix

Hi,
I am a graduate student of Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Science
Dept. I'm in a class project on Apache Servicemix. As part of the
class-project, I would like to join the ServiceMix team and make a useful
contribution.

What do I need to do for that?
Also, I would like to know more about the following:
How is the project organized?  Who makes decisions?  Is there a
roadmap?  How are bug reports and feature requests handled?
