[jira] [Created] (SPARK-8524) JVM crashed when mesos URL is in
wrong format
Borisa Zivkovic created SPARK-8524:
--------------------------------------
Summary: JVM crashed when mesos URL is in wrong format
Key: SPARK-8524
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-8524
Project: Spark
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Mesos
Affects Versions: 1.4.0, 1.3.1
Environment: java version "1.8.0_45" - Oracle
mesos version 0.22.1
OS ubuntu 15.04
Reporter: Borisa Zivkovic
when mesos URL is in wrong format JVM crashes
If I try to execute this everything works perfectly
./spark-submit --class SomeApp --driver-memory 1G --executor-memory 1G --master mesos://127.0.0.1:5050 /path/to/my/jar/app.jar
but if I make mistake and execute command like this (notice http://)
./spark-submit --class SomeApp --driver-memory 1G --executor-memory 1G --master mesos://http://127.0.0.1:5050 /path/to/my/jar/app.jar
then JVM crashes

# The crash happened outside the Java Virtual Machine in native code.
# See problematic frame for where to report the bug.
#
I would expect more sensible error to be reported. Took me few hours to figure out what was the problem - I thought my native mesos libraries were not built properly
