HTTP vs FTP

A few weeks ago Nature claimed that FTP was faster than HTTP. I wrote them a
letter saying this wasn't true, which they printed, to my surprise, but I was
wondering ... has anyone measured it? I'm sure it should be the other way round
(well, nearly sure).
