Repro:

$ bin/gobblin cli run distcp -setConfiguration fs.permissions.umask-mode:044 file:///tmp/src file:///tmp/dst

$ gobblin-dist ls -l /tmp/dst
total 0
-rw-r--r-- 1 eogren wheel 0 Nov 18 10:37 bar.txt
-rw-r--r-- 1 eogren wheel 0 Nov 18 10:37 foo.txt

 

Would have expected files to not be 644.

 

From attaching a debugger, the issue is in FileAwareInputStreamDataWriter: in the ctor, FileSystem.get(uri, conf) is hitting the Hadoop FS cache which already has been initialized with a different configuration, so they are not effectively passed down all the way to the filesystem.
