POI : HDF with Cocoon

Hi,

sorry if I'm not the first to ask (I'm new).

Does the HDF API (as a Word file format generator) can be use in addition
to Cocoon framework
as the HSSF Serializer (Excel file format generator) ?

And where can I find samples about it ?

I need to generate a Word document with :
- header (title, author ...),
- footer (number of pages, total of pages ...)
- table with merge cells.
