Sling boilerplate text proposal
Hi,
I had the pleasure of attending Sally's excellent media training class
on Monday, and as a result here's a new proposal for a boilerplate
text that describes Sling in a few words. That's targeted at IT people
who have no idea what Sling is.
That text could go on the front page of our website, in release and
other announcements, etc.
Find it at http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SLING/Boilerplate
- feel free to edit and comment there or discuss here.

Sounds very good! If you ask me, you should put that on the front page
of the website ASAP!

Hi Sally,
Thanks very much for your advice - I have moved the text to
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SLINGxSITE/Index - will be
live at http://incubator.apache.org/sling in a few hours. Incorporated
your comment about the JCR acronym, and added a placeholder for us to
explain the Sling name.

Thanks, Bertrand.
The boilerplate reads nicely. Well done.
One thing to possibly consider is taking a half-step
back to make the first reference to JCR as "Content
Repository API for Java (JCR)".
You missed the morning interview where a reporter
(from a German IT magazine) said that the presumption
from our community is that everyone automatically
understands what these acronyms mean. Even for someone
"in the industry", it's good to clarify.
A second step back would be (perhaps in a related
section; this doesn't have to be in the boilerplate
itself) is the background on the name "Sling" itself.
I've heard this being asked a few times this week at
ApacheCon.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ping me if you need
anything.
Cheers,
Sally
