problems with the euro-currency-symbol

Hello,
I try to create a pdf letter written in Garamond using fop.
So I took the *.ttf -files and worked through the explained workflow "adding
fonts to fop"
from the fop web site.

Now I have a problem with the euro symbol:

In a table the stuff after the euro is shifted to the right.

In a former posting, explaining the problem, I got the answer that
the font has no width defined for the euro-symbol so the
page formating is getting wrong (the Euro definitely HAS a width).

In the answer, I was told to edit the created xml font-files (in the "adding
fonts to fop") but I looked at these
files and had no idea where to start the editing and what to write.

Any idea?

Thanks,
Michael
