    Right now, the cases where preemptive checking isn't happening are in `DStream.transform` and `DStream.transformWith` invocations, since a DStream object is accessible from the closure argument to these in but one invocation in the test suite.  (I've been trying to figure out why preemptive checking fails here but why these aren't failing on actions.)
