[jira] [Resolved] (TRAFODION-726) LP Bug: 1387238 - sqenv.sh/sqenvcom.sh needs to be executed outside .bashrc

Hans Zeller resolved TRAFODION-726.
-----------------------------------
    Resolution: Won't Fix

Closing this for now, I haven't heard complaints related to this, and what Trafodion does is similar to the way Hadoop and HBase require certain environment variables being set. Also, sqenvcom.sh has undergone very major changes since this bug was filed.

> Currently, our sqenv.sh and sqenvcom.sh script gets executed via .bashrc.
> There will be even more once the management stuff comes in.
> We do tons of processing here and these are done everytime a shell is started.
> We already have SQ_HOME and MY_SQROOT where are added to .bashrc during installation.
> We need to remove the sqenv.sh -> sqenvcom.sh invocation.
> Our product should be smart enough to use the above variables to get the env directly.
> This is how most products work. Hadoop, hbase, hive, etc.
> We've seen issues with this setup where we could not log to a node due to something in sqenvcom.sh
