[Announce] JMeter 2.1 released

JMeter 2.1 has been released, and should by now now be available from
the mirrors.

The web-site updates may take an hour or so to appear.

So if 2.1 does not appear on the download page, select the "browse
download area" link, navigate to binaries or source as appropriate,
and you should find the files for 2.1

There are some major changes in this release.
- new format for test scripts and XML output files (*)
- JMS Sampler
- enhanced WSDL processing
- XSchema Assertion
- XML Tree Display
- CSV DataSet config item
- Synchronisation Timer
- functions and variables work at test plan level
- All test elements can be saved as PNG files

(*) New file format
=============
This is a lot more compact, and easier to read.
Existing JMX files can still be used; by default they will be saved in
the new format.
XML output files (JTL) default to the old (2.0) format so that
existing analysis tools still work.

The new format is selected in jmeter.properties - just comment the line:

file_format.testlog=2.0

Of course there are also quite a few bug fixes.

For more details please see the Changes file in the distribution.
Hopefully this will also soon be at:

The user documentation has also been updated.
