Issue with HSSF
I have used POI through Liferay. I am having an issue with POI.
Our workflow using POI is that, we create an excel sheet with description of
jobs and then email the excel sheet to the administrator. When the admin tries
to open the excel sheet the excel sheet is closing saying ‘Microsoft word has
encountered an illegal operation and needs to close’.
Why is this happening. If it is required I will send the code too.

How can we use the reference of the template excel sheet?
Do we have a problem if the same excel is accessed by two users?

I had this problem several times. too.
I solved it by using a template excel sheet which had been created by
Excel and then was being read in by POI using POIFS. I modified this
sheet and wrote it back to the disk. It could be opened without
problems.
So just create an empty or almost empty sheet in excel and use this
sheet as your basis to work on.
