Creating `branch-1.9` on May 15th?
Hi, All.
Apache ORC 1.9.0 is scheduled on September 15th.
https://github.com/apache/orc/milestone/10
Currently, we have 96 closed issues and 2 open issues.
- ORC-1356: [C++] Use Intel AVX-512 instructions to accelerate the
Rle-bit-packing decode
- Add C++ API for Columnar Encryption
ORC-1356 got 3 approvals and is going to be merged soon.
For C++ API Columnar Encryption, I guess we can move it to ORC 2.0.
To prepare 1.9.0, we need to cut a new branch, `branch-1.9` and set up the
CIs properly. In the Apache ORC community, the branch cut is a soft feature
freeze which means the committers can backport new features if needed. The
actual Apache ORC 1.9 Feature Freeze and QA will happen in July and August.
WDYT about making `branch-1.9` on May 15th?
Thanks,
Dongjoon.
