Apachecon NA 2016

Hi Everyone

We've only just had one and now another one is being planned…. Yes it's
Apachecon but North America this time. The dates are 11th – 13th May, 2016
and the location is Vancouver, Canada.

All the people from the community that have been involved or have been to
past Apachecons have all enjoyed the experience. Details about the event can
be found on the Linux Foundation website.

In preparation for it, I think it would be good to see if we can put
together an OFBiz track proposal. If you are interested in presenting at
Apachecon NA then please complete the details in the table on the wiki so
that we can track the potential and actual submissions.

You can submit an abstract summary of your presentation for Apachecon NA at
the following link.

Some important things to note:
*
What do I submit for the CFP ?*
You don't have to submit the complete presentation for the CFP. All you need
to submit is a summary paragraph of what your presentation will cover.

(See the following link for examples of previous Abstract Summaries for
Apachecon presentations
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz+track+@+Apachecon+US+2015+in+Texas%2C+Austin+-++April+13-17%2C+2015
<https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/OFBiz+track+@+Apachecon+US+2015+in+Texas%2C+Austin+-++April+13-17%2C+2015>

It's only if your summary gets selected will you need to complete and submit
the full presentation (and the deadline tends to be 2-3 weeks before
Apachecon starts)

*What if I want to go but need help to pay for travel costs ?*
The ASF has funding available from their Travel Assistance Committee (TAC)
to help cover the costs of travel, accommodation and food if necessary. You
will need to apply to TAC for the funding. At Budapest the TAC members asked
us to communicate to our communities that :

- You do not need to be a Committer to apply for funding, anyone that is
part of an Apache project community can apply
- You do not need to have submitted a presentation to apply for travel
funding
- You can submit a presentation and highlight that it is dependent on you
receiving travel funding
- The people that receive travel funding are expected to help out throughout
Apachecon as the conference volunteers
- You do not need to live in Apachecon host country or region to apply for
funding (e.g. TAC funded people from India, Africa and Canada for Apachecon
EU 2015)

Finally don't forget that if your presentation gets selected then you get
free admission to Apachecon.

Thanks
Sharan
