Hello,

Where can I found the requirement list for Subversion ?

I mean:
 - Which OS are supported?
 - How many memory is recommended?
 - Which is the minimal processor power?

Thanks for reply !

Regards,
Anthony

Many popular OSes are supported. Here's a list of some OSes

http://subversion.tigris.org/project_packages.html

and some other issues to be aware of on Windows 95/98/Me.

I run a Subversion server and a client on a Pentium II 350 Mhz with 256
Mbytes of memory running Debian Linux with a 2.6 kernel and it works
pretty good. I'm sure there's people who run it on a smaller system
than I do.

That should be more than adequate. My home server is a P3-650 w. 256MB
ram, running Mandrake linux - it runs subversion for my "fun"
projects, including my thesis project.
It also runs Apache and mysql with a handful of websites with photo
galleries w/dynamic image manipulation, a samba server, ftp server for
a few friends, occasionally it runs bittorrent and Tomcat too.

I noticed no performance problems with subversion at all.

Kenneth

wow. that's pretty cool for a real work horse, we're running 2 ways
Xeon, 2 GB of RAM and 2 X 73 GB SCSI on Windows 2003, the only other
application running on the same box is our bugs management
application, (database on a different box).

Do you have any performance or availabilty problems with the setup?
cos we are thinking about having subversion at home for our photo
albums and my wife documents store. Well we got a spare 5 year AMD 900
with 384 MD of RAM, doing nothing.

I'm running Debian 'sarge' on a P133 with 48MB of ram. SVN runs through
apache. Only a few developers though, and it can get to about 5-10
seconds per commit (though that's probably the aggressive post-commit
backup hooks and I also suspect the slow PCI bus holding back the
network card is partly responsible for this.)

You don’t need an overly speedy server to run subversion -: here is my setup

Windows Server 2003
Running on a 700mhz machine with 128mb of ram.
And to cap it all off SVN runs through Apache

The same machine also runs iis, asp.net, sql-server, mail server, and it is
my network print server - so it does a little bit of most things.

yes it could go 'faster' and more memory wouldn’t go amiss but svn is
certainly useable on a machine with these specs under the constant load that
it is on.
