Submissions Open for Community Track at Community Over Code - Minneapolis, Minnesota | September 11-14, 2025

Hi All,

The Call for Presentations (CFP) for Community Over Code (formerly
ApacheCon) 2025 in Minneapolis, Minnesota is now open. We would like to
remind you that we have a Community track and invite you to submit your
proposals. You can find more information at
https://communityovercode.org/call-for-presentations/, and *submissions
will close at 23:59 UTC on April 21, 2025.*

What is the Community track? It's an opportunity for anyone from our
communities to share their experiences, lessons learned, and stories about
being involved with Apache.

Here are some topic ideas to get you started:

Your Apache Story: How and why did you get involved with the ASF?
Roles within the ASF: What does it mean to you to be a Contributor,
Committer, Member, or Officer in the Foundation?
The Apache Way: What does it mean to you? Share real-life stories about
understanding and adopting it.
Overcoming Challenges: Did you or your project face any significant
obstacles? What worked and what didn't?
Diversity and Inclusion: How diverse and inclusive are our communities?
What have you seen or experienced?
Apache Branding, Licensing, Governance: Share your knowledge with others.
Future Communities: Do you have insights or opinions on where our
communities are now and how they might evolve?

The Community Track is about sharing thoughts and experiences so we can
learn from each other. Please note that we often receive a rush of
submissions in the last week or even the last 24 hours of the CFP, so we
encourage you not to wait until the deadline.

When you're ready, please use the CFP link below to submit your proposal:

You can find more details on the website: https://communityovercode.org/

Looking forward to your submissions!

Thanks,
Sanyam, Chris, and Rich

Anyone can submit talks, if there is relevance to ASF communities or open source in general. Do note that we tend to get between 3 and 5 times as many submissions than we have spaces, and so we do *tend* to select ASF community talks first, but not necessarily, if the content is compelling.

I would encourage looking at past schedules - https://communityovercode.org/past-sessions/community-over-code-na-2024/ - for an idea of what kinds of talks we have selected in the past.

Is this track limited to stories from ASF communities or can other OSS
communities submit talks?

Thanks, Sanyam!

And if you want to bounce an idea off of us, and/or refine an abstract, please do feel free to ask, either here on the list, or, if you prefer, contact us (Sanyam, me, and CWells) off-list. We want to craft the best possible track we can, and this specific track usually gets 3 to 4 times as many sessions as we have places to put them.
