[PR] Simplify home page to enhance usability [incubator]
semioticrobotic opened a new pull request, #133:
URL: https://github.com/apache/incubator/pull/133
This pull request suggests several changes aimed at making the Apache Incubator home page at `https://incubator.apache.org/` easier to use. It recommends:
- Consolidating material on the project's history, removing duplicative details from `/policy/incubation.html` and relocating them to the home page (where similar details were already present)
- Outlining initial steps prospective podlings should take to get started with Incubator, foregrounding key documents they should review
- Removing broken hyperlinks
- Re-writing page copy in certain places, to aid readability

-The Incubator was created link:https://www.apache.org/foundation/records/minutes/2002/board_minutes_2002_10_16.txt[ in 2002]. As of April, 2023 it has helped 335 podlings, of which 239 have graduated. More than 300 mentors have guided and supported podlings. There are between 25 and 50 podlings in incubation at any one time, and incubation typically takes 1 1/2 years.

I agree that the history content does not belong on the other page, but I think there should be a DISCUSS thread on general@incubator.apache.org on if that content should move here or to a new history page.
