Working on this issue will entail adding a number of new GROUP BY tests; I'll open a sub-task of this issue to convert the existing lang/groupBy.sql tests to JUnit so that the new tests can be added as part of a more modern framework. Hopefully the DERBY-2151 tool will produce a reasonable first version of that test.
