Logo Showcase
Hi guys,
I would like to give you an experience about my logo proposal, so I
created a little image with some color variants and buttons.

Very nice! I would suggest you go ahead and attach this image as well,
with a clear indication that this goes along with your original
submission...

That's good, I like the showing of the logo in all sizes. I do worry how
most of the logos in the contest will look as a 16x16 icon.
Thanks,
Dan.

My point is that voters should take this into account, not that any
submitter didn't.

Jeff,
If you look at Roger's initial post and open the attachment you will see
that he addressed the issues you mentioned: small size of logo, black and
white logo. He also addressed the case of displaying the logo on a dark
background.

A favicon is a very small graphic file that is associated with a web
site. A browser will usually display it in the upper left corner of a
page or tab window. The resolution of a favicon is usually 16 by 16 pixels.
The Google favicon is a blue capital G in a white square with a
colored border. Any modern browser should display it.
We should consider whether it's a requirement for the Derby logo to
work as a favicon. The small size and limited number of pixels means
that not all designs will look good as favicons.
BTW, it's also worth thinking about what a logo will look like in
black and white, in case someone ever wants to do a large print run
(color printing is expensive).

A favicon is that little 16x16 icon that appears next to the web
address in your browser's address bar or your bookmarks file that
serves as an easy visual indicator for the web site - a "Favorites
icon". Wikipedia has an extensive description, including guidelines
for creating and deploying favicons:

Very nice!
I like the icons, one could be used as a favicon. I also like the large hat
in light grey, which could be used to background the derby web pages or just
the home page perhaps even as a watermark on derby docs. My favorite color
is blue so I am partial to the blue hat. I also like what I am guessing are
menu links on the top right side.
Very good job on these! You must be a graphic designer, yes?
