Occasionally formatting landscape pages

Hi all,
This is partly an XSLT query.
I have an XML file with <PAGE> elements.  Occasionally some of them need to
be formatted as landscape.
Since the XML document is freshly generated each time a PDF file is
required, these landscape pages could be anywhere.
Landscape pages are indicated by a orientation="landscape" attribute in the
<PAGE> element.

I am at a loss as to how to do this AND keep the pages in order.

Does anyone have any pointers/clues on this?
