personalize the encoding/escaping of writing SOAP-XML

Hy
Das anybody know how to personalize the encoding/escaping of String-Values
of writing down the SOAP-XML;

I have to ZIP and base64encode the Value after escaping it.

My String is an XML so by writing down the SOAP-XML some characters are
getting escaped (for example "<" is represented by "&lt;")
