currently trying to figure out if this is supposed to be supported in the spec at all.
The wording is a bit ambiguous. Jozef Harting will test if this works in Weld. If not, then we don't have any pressure ;)
In any case, you can just lookup the un-parameterized Instance.class or Provider.class Bean and then just do a select(ProvidedBean.class).get();
Thus I'm downgrading this to a lower prio.

I now got the conformation from the Weld Team. Weld returns null in bean.create() if there is no InjectionPoint. I now fixed the NullPointer and will return the un-parameterized Instance in any case.
