RE: Thrift License

Hi!

A few follow up questions if I may -
Is 0.2 the closest thing to an official release that is planned for the near future?
Is 0.2 released under the Apache Software License?

Thanks!

That's a loaded question. =)

Folks have been pushing for a release for a while now, but we've stumbled on some procedural licensing stuff. Momentum has been picking up again now, so hopefully we'll get the release out in early 2010 (I'm guessing it's unlikely to happen before then as people will pretty soon start going off the radar for the holidays).

Thanks - that information is most helpful.
Can you comment on dates when the official release is targeted?

0.1 and 0.2 are release candidates, as we have not yet had any official release. Thrift will be released under the Apache Software License, when we make our official release. Reference to the Thrift Software License are legacy artifacts from before the project entered the Apache Incubator.

Hi-

I had a little trouble understanding from the Incubator and Project sites - under which license exactly is Thrift distributed?

Also, regarding releases - I saw that there exist 2 releases called 0.1 and 0.2. Are these downloadable and/or recommended or considered more stable than the SVN snapshot? The download page still seems to only suggest/support downloading a source snapshot, and no mention of releases is made there.

Thanks

0.2 is an official release as far as I'm aware. Yes, it's Apache licensed.
