large 3283 kb calc file does not open (first time today 1445 edst) last saved
1030 PM 09/19/2015. opened several times since then
tried older slightly smaller backup file 9/10/2015 - does not open either.
something in v4.1.1 or memory issue?
do not get to the green bar on opening - hangs
hangs on another computer with windows 8.1

Performance issues become readily apparent at about 1000 rows. Saving the test
files took approximately 4 minutes, OOC's memory usage at this point is approx.
600MB on a system with 16GB of memory, and an approx. CPU usage of <25% on a
4th gen i7 processor. When the open file gets too large, all IO operations slow
down dramatically, and any data manipulation attempts take several minutes.
After saving the uploaded test file, open office stopped responding when I
attempted to close it. Tested on Windows 10

I don't see any performance issue with attachment 845930.
It loads or save in about 2 seconds (Windows 7 64bits, 8Gbytes RAM, SSD,
processor i4).
Memory usage is about 52Mbytes for the Calc document itself, about 120Mbytes
for OpenOffice and the document.

Document attached in comment 1 opens in 4 sec. with AOO 4.1.1 and Win7 x64 Pro
Saving process takes 4 sec. too.
Most issues has been reported with large spreadsheets.
@jim: what format is used (ods or xls)?

The difference between Stross' successful replication and bmarcelly's failure
to replicate might be that Marcelly has an SSD rather than a traditional disk
drive. Saving files to an SSD is much faster and so performance problems are
less likely to show up.
