[osuosl-openpower] POWER9 availability

All,

I'd like to announce that we now have three new POWER9 servers added to our
OpenStack cluster. IBM has kindly loaned these three machines (with
hopefully more on the way soon).

If you have access to the OpenStack dashboard or API, you can use one of
the following flavors to deploy a new VM on POWER9:

p9.tiny
p9.medium
p9.small
p9.large
p9.xlarge

If you don't have access to the dashboard, please fill out our online form
[1] like you did for your original request, but state in the "Other
information" that you already have access to P8 and just need P9 access now.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

This depends on the OS and the OS version. Running Linux on P9 requires a
newer kernel and many of the older platforms don't support it. Feel free to
send an email to powerdev-request@osuosl.org and we can work out the
details there on whether or not we can just simply migrate your instance to
the P9 hardware or if we need to build a new VM for you.

Yes, we do have a similar x86 OpenStack cluster that you can use for free.
Please fill out this form [1] to request access.

Indeed we have. ;-)

Is there a way to migrate existing P8 instances over to P9, or would one
have to do a reinstall?

Also, do you have Intel-based servers available as part of your free
hosting offers as well? If so, we would be interested in knowing how to
apply for that. Our P8 instances with you are chugging away nicely, but
my devs tell me our (currently self-hosted) Intel-based build servers
are at their load limit, and it would be nice if we could take some load
off of them by adding two additional Intel-based build servers $SOMEWHERE.

Kind Regards,
Stefan Baur
