sending xml file with request

Hi all,

i'm a newbie to jmeter but i find this tool very interesting and useful
so thanks to the one(s) who created it.

i've got a problem, i'm using an HTTP Request in which i want to send an
xml file.
i also want to use counters in the xml file i'm sending.
when i launch the test, nothing happens and in the result tree listener
and nothing is printed in the request tab after "query data:"

i first thought it could have been a mime type problem so i've tried
text/plain, text/xml, application/xml but neither works.

therefore i've got 2 questions :
- is it possible to send xml file with a request
- if yes, is it possible to use the counters i've defined if i write
${counter} in the content of my xml file.

any help would be reallt appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Raj

Re: sending xml file with request

Posted by Ra...@alcatel.fr.
i've checked the log but there are no errors.

if, instead of using the "send a file", i create a request parameter of
the same name and put as the value the content of the xml file, then it
works.

but if the content of an uploaded file is not examined to check for user
variables, then i haven't got much choice.
i really need to use counter so that some values of my xml file get
different for every test thread.
to sum up i have to use a request parameter so that user variables such
as counter are treated.

thanks for the help.
Raj

As far as I know, the file data is not shown in the request tab; the
file name could be listed but probably isn't.

Yes, as far as I know.
Have you checked jmeter.log for any errors?

No - the content is not examined.
