DO NOT REPLY [Bug 49040] New: Change ErrorDocument Or Add
ErrorDocumentHandler
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=49040
Summary: Change ErrorDocument Or Add ErrorDocumentHandler
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.3-HEAD
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: kkobashi@comcast.net
ErrorDocument http-code /uri is not very useful.
It would be way more useful if this was changed so that ErrorDocument sends the
httpcode as part of a param to the specified uri
For example in .htaccess:
ErrorDocumentHandler /myerrorhandler.php
myerrorhandler.php
-------------------------
if !isset($_GET['error']))
exit;
switch($_GET['error']) {
case 400:
$strError = "blah blah";
break;
case 401:
$strError = "blah blah";
break;
default:
$strError = "blah blah";
break;
}
// generate theme here
$template->Render($strError);
Most modern websites want to keep the look and feel of the website in a themed
presentation and show the error code and error message within that same look
and feel. The way it stands, one has to point every ErrorDocument http code to
a separate document which makes for more work, and more errors.

The error code is already available in $_ENV['REDIRECT_STATUS']. No need for an
additional parameter.
