[jira] [Commented] (TEZ-769) Change Vertex.setParallelism() to accept a set of EdgeManagerDescriptors

Siddharth Seth commented on TEZ-769:
------------------------------------

[~hitesh], Are you planning on making some of the changes discussed offline - allowing both ends of an edge to interact with it, rather than just the downstream vertex - which is currently the case. That would also end up supporting a situation where the EM doesn't necessarily have to be replaced and can just be augmented with additional configuration information.
Jus the EdgeDescriptor will not be adequate at that point for the replacement call, and will likely need explicit methods other than setparallelism to interact with the EdgeManagers.

> Currently it accepts edge manager objects. This is inconsistent with the new logic of receiving custom edge managers via descriptors. Also, for recovery, we would need to be able to store the new edge manager plugins and they need to be available in a serialized form.
