J2EEDescriptorStore2 DB schema question

Hi,

I have some questions about the J2EEDescriptorStore DB schema.
Is there any info/documentation about the reasoning available?

For example I have some doubts about the cardinality of some relations.

Also I would like to know why there are so many small tables and not
a combined table (for example URI with OBJECT or URI with CHILDREN).
