Request to create autoresponder for PRC mailing list
Hello Infra team --
As you know, the PRC has been disbanded and we're working to formalize our new operations.
One thing we'd like to implement this week is to create an autoresponder for emails sent to the PRC list. The message we'd like folks to receive when sending messages to prc@apache.org follows.
Thanks for your help with this. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you for contacting The Apache Software Foundation.
Reflecting our continued growth, we have recently restructured the activities of the ASF Public Relations Committee's activities to perform more efficiently and serve you better.
As such, the prc@apache.org email address is no longer valid. Please address your query to the appropriate list:
- trademarks@apache.org for any issues regarding trademarks or specific project names, as well as branding of the ASF itself or any of its projects and initiatives
- press@apache.org for all inquiries from the press/analyst community, and/or any issues dealing with marketing and publicity
- fundraising@apache.org for any issues dealing with fundraising, sponsorships, donations, or related funding opportunities
- dev@community.apache.org for any issues regarding community development, including implementing The Apache Way, student/developer mentoring, Summer of Code, and related activities
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and look forward to hearing from you.

Yes, this was my fault. My apologies for the screw up, I had as Joe
suggested misinterpreted an IRC conversation.

Eeep!

I would say I'm very good at nagging so we don't need a JIRA ticket. :)
We can check in next week if we don't hear back from you. Does that
work for you?

Yeah Tony's remarks were a botched interpretation of an irc conversation.
I wasn't too thrilled with what he wrote either. If a JIRA ticket will
help ease your mind while we figure out what to do, go for it. Otherwise
it's not necessary.

Joe, from my perspective I think a week is perfectly ok and appreciated.
I was concerned when I saw Tony's response because it sounded more "if"
than "when" it would get done. That might not have been the intention,
but it is how it reads to me.
Would it be helpful to create a JIRA ticket for this request? I think
our post-PRC team is more concerned with tracking the request than a
specific timeline.

This is news to me, as discussion of an autoresponder has

So another week or so isn't going to make much difference.
> I'm not sure if I'm

The situation is that we have a solution for autoresponders
in the form of a script Ken Coar wrote many years ago. As
the topic rarely comes up, nobody currently doing infra is
all that familiar with Ken's script on an operational basis.
So somebody has to look over how the script works for other
situations and pass it appropriate arguments for it to work
for yours. It won't take that person much to do typing-wise
once they figure out how it all works, but as we don't consider
this a time-bound request we haven't prioritized it as such.

Thanks, Tony.
This is news to me, as discussion of an autoresponder has been going on for at least 3 months. Oh well.
I'm not sure if I'm understanding this correctly: there's nothing we can do? Is that the situation?
Cheers,
Sally

Sally we don't currently have a solution for auto-responders. This is
not something we have a great rationale to setup immediately.
We would have to develop a solution and test that before deploying it.
This is not something we have much call for, and thus it is not
something we have in our locker at the moment.
It's not as simple as adding a .vacation message file as you would for
individual users.
