"Index Download Permission Request for 'Central Repository'"
I just installed NB 21 on my Mac.
(Why not 22? The download was stuck...)
And I got this message:
"Index Download Permission Request for 'Central Repository'"
I go to Settings->Java->Maven->Index and I see a table with "Repository
URL" and "Permission" headers.
But I can't seem to figure out how to add the permission for Maven Central.
There's "Allow", "Deny" and "disable" links in the message, but they don't
seem to do anything.
Also, I found it curious when I launched NB 21 that a) the app was not in
the Netbeans directory under Applications (where it's been since forever),
and wasn't name "Apache Netbeans 21". It also did not prompt me to import
from my old NB install.
Tip appreciated
Regards,
Will Hartung

I suspect you're updating from NetBeans 18 or earlier?
For various reasons the installer was switched to the NBPackage variant
with NetBeans 19. This does in place upgrade, and the app folder and
shortcut no longer have the version in them.
Since then the import settings on startup functionality has been limited to
the last 3 releases.
You can try importing some or all settings from an older version using the
options window.
Best wishes,
Neil

interesting! This is not intended. This is one click for me on linux
(pretty sure I tested it on windows too).
Is this a mac system setting or something like that? Since this is
implemented as normal hyperlink listener:

UX issue. You have to double click on the "Allow" to get it work. I was
single clicking it (since it looks like a link) and nothing was happening.
When I double-clicked on it, the update started.
Thanks!

Hi,
I can't answer the mac questions, but the table in the maven indexer
options is mostly there to inspect and reset existing permissions -
default is an empty list.
So if you don't see an entry with the URL for maven central, NB either
didn't need that permission yet (can be triggered by opening a pom) or
the notification for it is still open and hasn't been answered yet. It
will appear as notification bubble at first and if you miss it, it will
stay in the notifications list. Clicking "Allow" or "Deny" will add a
allow/deny entry, "disable" completely disables remote index downloads
and won't ask anything again. All options close the notification.
