Actually the real problem is this:
in redhat there is a file called /etc/ant.conf
which resets your ANT_HOME to
ANT_HOME=/usr/share/ant

you may override this by having your own
$HOME/.ant/ant.conf 
with the proper value inside.
no need to remove the /usr/share/ant.

removing /etc/ant.conf or overriding it will also do
