   ## Summary
   
   This PR doesn't fix any bugs per se, it just cleans up the code and adds more configurability.
   
   It allows removing another manual DDR training step and use the controller's own logic instead by a CONFIG flag. This PR removes the manual step by default.
   
   ## Impact
   
   Code cleanup, removal of dead code, adding one configuration option.
   
   ## Testing
   
   This has been tested on Aries m100pfsevp board, icicle board and on custom HW.
