problem transforming xhtml

hi everyone,
i'm currently working on a meta-search application, that implied
parsing html into xhtml and then applying an xslt transform
to get useful data.
now i'm having problem applying xslt stylesheets to xhtml files,
i'm using xalan J as xsl processor, and the xhtml code was generated
using jtidy.
can anyone help???
