[jira] Resolved: (INFRA-866) Create Shale TLP

Posted by "Henri Yandell (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Henri Yandell resolved INFRA-866.
---------------------------------

    Resolution: Fixed

I think nope on the shale/ jira url. struts/ is there currently, and someday we should be merging it into jira. So I figure we should just keep it as is and focus effort on figuring out the merge into jira.

The biggest issue left with it are custom fields I think - though OpenEJB may have experienced problems in the attachment migration.

I'm pretty sure Shale commits were fixed - but all svn commits are turned off atm.

As I think this is all that was outstanding on this issue, I'm resolving but please re-open if needed.

-----------------------------------

Since two top-level projects are sharing the JIRA instance, rather than having issues.apache.org/struts, could we instead have issues.apache.org/jira2 or something more generic?

Wendy Smoak commented on INFRA-866:
-----------------------------------

> Will you be wanting a fresh directory, or is there a directory within Struts that you would want moving to be that directory (once lists are setup)?

Shale has a trunk/branches/tags structure underneath Struts that can simply be moved over:

     https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/struts/shale/

Thanks!

Craig McClanahan commented on INFRA-866:
----------------------------------------

Brett wants us to continue using the Struts instance of JIRA, and that's fine (I've got admin rights on that instance). But there's one thing I'd like to see ... an http redirect from:

  http://issues.apache.org/shale

to

  http://issues.apache.org/struts

so that we can publish the former one, as well as redirect it in the future if either Struts or Shale moves later.

-------------------------------------

Craig added as a chair in svn so has perms to make (most) changes. The one you can't do Craig is to create the shale directory itself. Will you be wanting a fresh directory, or is there a directory within Struts that you would want moving to be that directory (once lists are setup)?

[jira] Commented: (INFRA-866) Create Shale TLP

Posted by "Brett Porter (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Brett Porter commented on INFRA-866:
------------------------------------

some things:
- the new convention for PMC lists is "private@"..., the archive won't be available via the website.
- please hold off doing the SVN move until the commits list is set up correctly.
- your existing JIRA issues will need to stay in the same instance that they are currently in (I assume that's the struts one as I don't see them here)
- I'm assuming you don't have any existing lists to migrate to these new ones.

I'll check with the rest of infra how we move forward on the root tasks as there are a couple pending.

want one, maybe we should point it at

[jira] Commented: (INFRA-866) Create Shale TLP

Posted by "Craig McClanahan (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Craig McClanahan commented on INFRA-866:
----------------------------------------

Thanks Brett ... replies to your comments.

For the PMC list, "private@..." is fine.

We'll wait on SVN moving until everything is set up.

Our JIRA issues are indeed in the Struts instance, so that's fine.

You are correct that we have no existing mailing lists to be migrated

Brett Porter commented on INFRA-866:
------------------------------------

for the record, it's not that I want you on the Struts JIRA (everyone should be on one), it's just incredibly complicated to merge JIRA projects as I understand it. The redirects are a good idea. And a link on: http://issues.apache.org/.
