Crashes under load?

Hi everybody,

I have been using Tomcat 3.x.x versions and
they worked fine under a few hundred user
load. When I tried to do load testing of 
Tomcat 4.0, it crashes with < 100 user load. 
At this stage, it does not even send a reply
code back to the browser. It just closes the
connection as soon as a request is made.

Has anybody experienced the same problem?
Or has somebody done a successful load testing
on Catalina?
