suggestions on optimizing SA check

Hello,

Anyone have suggestions for optimizing SA check?

I have noticed a 1-3 second pauses during the process of messages at SA check when tailing the Amavis
log. This has not been the norm.

I'm running:
Postfix 2.2p1
amavis-new 2.2.1
SA 3.0.2
Razor 2.34
dcc 1.2.64
Dspam 3.4.4
ISC DNS Bind 9.3.1 locally
also tried remote DNS server.

My email is backing up very slowly and I can't get it to process faster.

Any help would be wonderful. I'm stuck.

Hello all,
thanks you for your time and suggestions.

I have tried the -D which shows a slight delay from Bayes..

I've turn Dspam off an added 2 more amavis servers.
In doing this I was able to empty my the queued 2700 emails.
Dspam is now back on.

I will upgrade razor and will share my results when I get them.

I have notice boat loads of DNS traffic from lookups - this may be the
thief of my efficiency.

again- thank you.

Rich

Sounds like network lag/timeouts. I believe someone else suggested it, but
run with -D to get a better idea of what is going on. Razor and DCC, I've
found, tend to be a usual cause for lag. Although doing any network-related
checks puts you at the whim of the Internet/etc.

Razor 2.40 or later is necessary to run with SA 3.0. I'd recommend getting
the latest version (2.67 iirc). More information included in the INSTALL
document.

Unrelated to SA, FWIW.

Could be something is timing out. Run spamassassin -D --lint as your
amavis user and watch to see if the pause happens in a particular place.
  (my guess would be razor)
