[VFS] Couple of minor changes for inclusion in 2.0?

Hi, I see some discussion on the list re. a release of VFS. Any chance
someone could review the following two (minor) FTP-related
improvements/bugs and consider their inclusion:

Allow configuration of FTP remote verification

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/VFS-188
Rename does not work with some FTP servers that do not provide
directory listings

Both have patches attached. And both have been completely ignored
since their creation in late 2007.
