> When building on a MacOS machine, site-book/bin/generate-md.sh assumes that the MacOS version of sed (which comes from FreeBSD) comes first on the path of the build environment.  If GNU sed is installed and comes earlier in the path than the script calls sed with the wrong arguments, stopping the site-book generation process because of sed returning an error.
