[jira] [Commented] (HBASE-18048) client side should output version string

Sean Busbey commented on HBASE-18048:
-------------------------------------

I'm not sure if this is a DEBUG or INFO level output message. Presuming there's just a single message I think INFO would be okay.

> client side should output version string
> ----------------------------------------
>
> Key: HBASE-18048
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-18048
> Project: HBase
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: Client, Operability
> Reporter: Sean Busbey
>
> when debugging applications that talk to HBase, it would be useful to output our version string to aid troubleshooting.
> in particular, this is useful if the end user a) is not sure of the version deployed (due to jar names that don't include a version) or b) has accidentally deployed multiple client jar versions and we aren't sure which is loading.
