I noticed these errors  occured  the first time I ran with a new JDK on my machine when there was interference from the Symantec firewall.   Most recently I updated my jdk 1.6 to SR9 and started tests, the tests completed and continued but I came back to the 50 failures  and the Symantic screen asking to   give the new jdk permission to acess the network.  However another time I got it, I saw no such question and I don't see that the IBM JDK was updated on the dates this was reported in the nightlies, so I can't be sure that this issue is all due to the firewall, only that the firewall can have this  impact.
