Mylyn Support

Dear all,

I would like to ask, how usable is the Mylyn support provided in the IDE?

What I see now, there are support for Bugzilla and JIRA. The JIRA
support needs a plugin, which is not available.

If I remember well, in the old days there were a local task repository
based on TODO messages.

Do we know what is the present state of the Task Repositories support.
Does that have a future in NB?

The Action Items window?

I don't know, but we might have a conversation about rationalising the
UI and hiding by default certain legacy features? Not that I'm saying
this is necessarily in that category.

Best wishes,

Neil

so why don't you drop your fork and instead make this a PR that can
live within the NetBeans code base? That way it has a chance to live on
when you loose interest.

For the first part I created:

https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/6856

to make it easier to integrate rust-analyzer.

Greetings

Matthias

me neither. I was only offering the option to use CI to create a
devbuild for testing purposes which includes rust and your changes.
Opening a draft PR would do that if a committer approves the CI run
which should be no problem (whether or not this should be integrated is
a completely different question). I quickly looked through the readme
and some sources and it requires to manually swap out modules for
testing purposes - and the default NB distribution doesn't even include
rust.

you lost me on this one. What is my opinion about tests? :)

Hey Arsi,

thx for your support to bring this further, but I see the same, we don't
need a new package which makes similiar stuff, that we already have.
There is no reason to not put it into the core.
Please do a PR and I think you will get help from others for more time.
I also think that some stuff needs to be done after another is also
possible withtin the core. Maybe the core needs to be enhanced then, if
there is smth missing.

Cheers

Chris

P.S. It is out of scope yes but what happens with the NBAndroid stuff
from you?

According to the description of that procedure, it should be called
after the server responds to initialize, as an acknowledgement.
I forgot to write that I also updated the version of lsp4j to 0.21.1

It needs to be tested if the addition of initialized won't make a
problem with another LSP and unfortunately I don't have the time to do
that...
And I have a slightly different opinion about the tests... Tests only
check the possibilities that the author had in mind. So they...

I needed to add good support for Rust to Netbeans because I'm like a
trained monkey, any other IDE kills me. So I added it🤣.

why don't you open a PR? Not only do we have some LSP tests, CI can also
produce a dev-build for those who are interested in testing the change.
The PR dev builds do include the rust cluster too.

(I don't know whether /initialize/ or /initialized/ is correct, but this
might make things easier)

Hi,

For the impatient I have prepared a mavenized plugin for NB19:
https://github.com/arsi-apli/aNB-LspClient

And you need to compile the ANTLR4 Rust plugin, instructions can be
found here:
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/Rust+plugin

D'oh!

So we have people already integrating rust-analyzer, that's great news!

Here's a volunteer! What shall I do? I'm currently working, as time
permits, in rust support [1]. Currently adding support for Cargo workspaces.

Cheers,
Antonio

Language Server Protocol - rust-analyzer

Posted by arsi <ar...@chello.sk.INVALID>.
H*i,*
Since yesterday I've been trying to run the rust-analyzer and I finally
found the reason why it doesn't work..

In the *LSPBindings* class, *server.initialize* is called, but it should
be followed by *server.initialized* and that is missing and that's why
the rust-analyzer won't run.

It would be ideal if we could find a volunteer to test it and commit it...😉

Re: Mylyn Support

Hi Laszlo,

I don't use task management IDE integrations personally, but I did
notice that NB has a collapsed panel on the commit window I never opened
until now :)

somewhat related to this is CI integration, the hudson features need to
be renamed to jenkins since hudson no longer exists:

Re: Mylyn Support

Hey Laszlo,

maybe we can have a look into this repo here:
https://github.com/tusharjoshi/nbtaskfocus which is this plugin:
https://web.archive.org/web/20210118073547/http://plugins.netbeans.org/plugin/53996/nbtaskfocus

Dunno whether we need the mylyn stuff.
