I don't recommend using the maven release plugin, but that does at
least restore the SNAPSHOT suffix.
The way I do it is to create a clean workspace from trunk (or branch
in this case); make all the release-specific version changes, and
create the tag from the workspace. This preserves SVN history, and
only the changes have to be uploaded.
Then switch the workspace to the tag you have just created from it and
do the build (ensures the tag details are stored in the manifest).
Having a clean workspace for the build is a good idea anyway (one
reason I don't like the release plugin).
It's a little bit of extra work, but does not leave the trunk/branch
without the SNAPSHOT suffix, which can cause problems for CI systems.

Yeah, but do we use the CI?
I don't care about it neither do think its usable for daemon,
so we can just turn it off if its enabled.
