[users@httpd] mod_rewrite problem

I am trying to reverse proxy a backend java app running on tomcat, but I am
having problems getting the re-write to display the proxy address rather
than the back end app server once past the initial index page.

here is what I have in my apache httpd.conf

<VirtualHost *>

   ServerName lcs.myfrontend.server.com
   DocumentRoot /usr/local/apache/tmp
   ErrorLog /usr/local/apache/logs/lcs_unsecured_errors.log
   CustomLog /usr/local/apache/logs/lcs_unsecured_access.log combined

   ProxyRequests on
   RewriteEngine on

   <Directory />
      Options None
      AllowOverride None
   </Directory>

   RewriteRule ^/$  http://dev7.mybackendserver.com:8080/lcs/index.jsp
[NC,P]
   RewriteRule ^/(.*)$  http://dev7.mybackendserver.com:8080/lcs/$1 [NC,P]

   ProxyPassReverse / http://mybackendserver.com:8080/lcs/

</VirtualHost>

When I goto lcs.myserver.com I get lcs.myserver.com/index.jsp, when I goto
any other part of the app, I get mybackendserver.com/lcs/....

How do I keep masking the backend server past the index page?

Thanks

Cary Anderson
