the ActiveMQ project but with a radically different threading architecture
which lets it scale to large number of concurrent connections and
destinations while using a constant number of threads.

You can read more about Apollo and it's features at website:
http://activemq.apache.org/apollo/index.html

Try downloading it from:
http://activemq.apache.org/apollo/download.html

Setup an instance using the getting started guide:
http://activemq.apache.org/apollo/documentation/getting-started.html

The binary distribution's examples directory has bunch of different
examples in different languages you can use to interface with the broker.
