[users@httpd] httpd locking up

Hello,

on Redhat 8.0, with apache 2.0.47 and php 4.3.2 we keep getting these errors 
in the log files:

[Tue Aug 19 08:54:06 2003] [warn] child process 16395 still did not exit, 
sending a SIGTERM
[Tue Aug 19 08:54:23 2003] [warn] child process 16395 still did not exit, 
sending a SIGTERM
[Tue Aug 19 08:55:30 2003] [warn] child process 16395 still did not exit, 
sending a SIGTERM
[Tue Aug 19 08:59:58 2003] [error] child process 16395 still did not exit, 
sending a SIGKILL

Apache will lock up for 5-10 minutes (at random times)


does anyone know what may cause this? we are running nothing but php with 
apache 2.0.47
