[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-6692) hl.maxAnalyzedChars should apply cumulatively on a multi-valued field

David Smiley commented on SOLR-6692:

bq. Furthermore, DefaultSolrHighligher.doHighlightingByHighlighter should exit early from it's field value loop if it reaches hl.snippets.

Upon further inspection, it can only do that if {{hl.preserveMulti=true}}

> I think hl.maxAnalyzedChars should apply cumulatively across the values of a multi-valued field. DefaultSolrHighligher doesn't; I'm not sure yet about the other two.
> Furthermore, DefaultSolrHighligher.doHighlightingByHighlighter should exit early from it's field value loop if it reaches hl.snippets.
