So right after I sent this, something occured to me... We're going to want to
have some kind of mirror infrastructure setup for updates. Right now things
are setup to use nyud.net, but I don't know if we want something different?
Thoughts?

nyud.net:8090 is a mirroring system. I'd think it'd make more sense to
use the Apache mirroring system if possible, but the nyud.net:8090 thing
should suffice for now.

I read their terms back when it was first decided to use it, and I seem
to recall that they were OK with it.

The problem is that anything using the Apache mirror system gets the files put
into archive, which we don't want. They made the system assuming software
releases, not for things with our frequent rule deployment schedule.

Yes. It may be sufficient, I was just wondering if we wanted to do up
anything extra or different. I also don't know if the nyud.net folks
will mind us providing updates through their system. (I'd have to read
up more on their service.)

BTW: I did put up a 3.1.1 update and it's going through nyud.net.
A preliminary doc to do the manual updates is available at

Our distros are already automatically mirrored at all the Apache mirrors. If
you go to the http://spamassassin.apache.org download link you end up being
directed to click on a link to a mirror site from http://www.apache.org/mirrors/

Is there some sort of load balancing way of selecting one of them that does not
require the manual click?
