How to build a hdfs(1.0.4) with two subnet?

Hi all,

I just want to build hdfs(1.0.4) with two subnet. Nodes between can
access each other through gateway, but they can not access with
different ip (I heard that port forwarding and ip alias can overcome
this, but I am not sure whether I should do this). So how should I set
the hdfs? look for some reference. I will appreciate any help.
