I would like to subscribe and I am getting a permanent error. I would like to contribute to Open Office

Hello,
My name is Mike Mosset I am sorry if I am emailing the wrong email address. I tried sending an email to the subscription department and a permanent error message was sent back to my email address. I have C++ skills and I am a novice- beginner with a lot to learn and I am willing to learn. I have skills in HTML5, CSS, bootstrap and JavaScript for making websites. I am willing to work on anything that involves coding software with C++ to improve, test, and find bugs for Open Office Software. I would also like to work with a website to make new features, work on bugs, test, and anything that needs to be done. I do not know how to do everything but I am willing to learn what I do not know to fix the problem. I have Packt as a learning resource that could help me when I need to learn something coding or website related. I have been studying for many years and I am looking to get in the field someday. Contributing to Open Office would be a great way to add to my portfolio.

Since the Project is volunteer driven project the recruiting channel led
to the believe that we were offering jobs. So we had to close the
channel again. (See biduilles mail too)

When we build structures to support hired developers I am sure we will
open the channel again, but for now the channel remains blocked.

So you are welcome to work on pro Bono bases, the PMC has given a resume
for commiters in the past as a reference for them in real jobs.

Another wayy is to get yourself financed or build finance structures.

All the best

Peter

Greetings Mike, and welcome to Apache OpenOffice;

This is indeed the right place to get started with the project. There was a
name change for this mailing list to Volunteer@openoffice.apache.org. To
subscribe send a blank e-mail to volunteer-subscribe@openoffice.apache.org.
You will receive a reply to that asking you to confirm that it is you. Reply
to that mail and you will get a reply saying that you are subscribed. Be sure
to check your spam folder as some mail clients will send them there.

The project is always looking for people with your skills. The code is written
primarily in c++, though there are other languages used as well.

The first things we usually suggest for new developers are to subscribe to the
developer mailing list, and to make their first build of AOO (Apache
OpenOffice). For the mailing list just send a blank e-mail to
dev@openoffice.apache.org. This is the main mailing list for development, as
well as where project-wide discussion takes place.

For building AOO, there is a build guide on our Media Wiki at
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO. The AOO
code is a complex system so when you have questions ask them either here or on
the development list.

There is also set of orientation pages available at
https://openoffice.apache.org/orientation/index.html that will give you
background on the project as well as the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) that
we are a part of.

Again Welcome to AOO and I look forward to seeing your contributions.

Regards
Keith N. McKenna
