Open Office on my wife's Mac

Hi,

I have downloaded Open Office to my wife's MAC.

I have dragged the icon into the applications folder.

The Open Office Icon appears in the Lanchpad window.

However when I click the Icon the desktop refreshes but the application
doesn't open.

The Mac is running OS X Mountain Lion.

Can you help please?
